Problem
Recurring charges hide across receipts, renewal dates, currencies, and manual lists. SubSplit needed to reduce setup friction without silently trusting noisy inbox data or presenting uncertain detections as confirmed spending.
Role and scope
End-to-end product strategy, UX and interface design, Android engineering, backend workflows, and launch website from concept through pre-launch.
Key decisions
- Made Gmail discovery explicit and read-only, with user-triggered consent and review before detected subscriptions count as trusted.
- Separated confirmed subscriptions from candidates that need review, keeping uncertain evidence out of billing totals.
- Used an offline-first Room cache with Supabase synchronization so core subscription views remain useful through weak connectivity.
- Built responsive Compose layouts, type-safe navigation, and a shared token system across phone sizes.
Deliverables
- Jetpack Compose Android application
- Subscription dashboard and manual management flows
- Gmail discovery and candidate-review workflow
- Offline cache and Supabase integrations
- Public pre-launch marketing website and legal routes
Current state
A working pre-launch Android product and public marketing site. Subscription tracking, manual entry, Gmail-assisted discovery, review, multi-currency display, and offline behavior are implemented; public app-store release remains pending.
